Mechanical Engineer

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work for an expanding Manufacturing and Site Maintenance Services company servicing a wide range of clients and industries across the world, including diversified global mining organisations. Our Site Maintenance Services specialise in heavy rotating equipment and onsite machining whilst providing highly skilled labour for shutdowns. This role will involve reporting to the Engineering Manager and will assist in the achievement of safe, profitable production for Fitting and Site Services. The Engineer will be a key point of contact for our customers and an essential connection across all workshop personnel, and as such, must demonstrate our culture and values at all times. The Engineer will work across a number of projects simultaneously.  The ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritise effort to achieve the optimal net result for the workshop as a whole is critical to the success of the role. Continuous improvement in estimating, planning, execution and reporting will be realised by accurately tracking and recording project performance and sharing learnings with others. 

Various expansion projects are currently identified and will require innovation and self-drive to enable the company’s aggressive growth plans. 

This is a key team role in the organisation and knowing the importance of this role and its function within the team will ensure success.

In this role, the engineer will:

Provide general engineering, inclusive of –

·         Design of improvements

·         Provide design, 3D modelling and drafting support for the workshop using Solidworks

·         Scopes of Engineering

·         Define work standards

·         Estimating and quoting

Continuous improvement, inclusive of –

·         Waste elimination projects

·         Lean manufacturing implementation

·         Visual workplace

·         Drive new concepts from initiation to completion


The successful applicant will have:

·         A tertiary qualification in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering

·         3-5 years’ experience within the manufacturing / maintenance / mining industry

·         Good communication coupled with the ability to manage on time & priorities

·         Beneficial to have strong project management and planning experience

·         Excellent  interpersonal skills and the ability to stay organised and multi-task

·         Demonstrated capacity to innovate, conclude & produce


 This position is based in our Pinjarra Workshop


Fitters - Casual / Shutdown


Impact Engineering is currently seeking experienced Fitters - Heavy Engineering to undertake shutdown work on site and within our workshop. This role is part of the Fitting and Engineering team, which is progressive, diverse, innovative, and largely autonomous working across a range of industries.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

·         5+ year’s experience

·         Experience working on heavy mechanical equipment,

·         Experience in alumina or other  refining will be highly regarded

·         Relevant site tickets, including working at heights, confined space, EWP, forklift and rigging. 

·         Preference for applicants with valid full site access to Alcoa & South32 – Worsley Sites


This casual position is available immediately and would support our team on local shutdowns and peak workloads in the workshop. Wages are negotiable pending your experience with an excellent rate on offer ranging from $40 - $60 per hour as appropriate.  This position is based in our Pinjarra Workshop
